Bhutan\u2019s Traditional Medicine system, <\/span>Sowa Rigpa<\/span><\/i>, is a cornerstone of national health, shaped by Buddhist cosmology, Tibetan medical science and Himalayan ecological knowledge. Healers, known as <\/span>drungtshos<\/span><\/i> and <\/span>menpas<\/span><\/i>, use pulse diagnosis, herbal formulations and spiritual therapy to address both physical and psychological ailments.<\/span><\/p>\n

The country operates a dual health system, fully integrating Traditional Medicine through the Institute of Traditional Medicine Services under the Ministry of Health. Sowa Rigpa is offered in district hospitals and primary care centres, and formal education is provided through government-accredited programmes.
