In 2008, Saudi Arabia established its National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) under the Ministry of Health. NCCAM recognizes a number of complementary and alternative medicine practices, including cupping (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">hijama<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in Arabic), acupuncture, chiropractic, osteopathy, naturopathy and herbal therapy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The NCCAM serves as a national regulatory entity for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, including ensuring the safety of service delivery at CAM facilities, intensifying scientific CAM research, regulating practices, licensing, supervising practitioners and clinics and enhancing public awareness towards CAM
