Nicaragua\u2019s Traditional, Complementary and Integrative Medicine\u00a0 systems are deeply connected to the ancestral knowledge of Miskito, Mayangna, Rama and other Indigenous and <\/span>Afro-descendant<\/span> communities, as well as mestizo rural traditions. Healing practices include herbal medicine, spiritual cleansing, <\/span>temazcal<\/span><\/i> (sweat lodges)<\/span> and midwifery, particularly in the Caribbean Coast and Indigenous territories.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Law of Traditional Ancestral Medicine and Complementary Therapies (Ley No. 759), passed in 2011, provides legal recognition for traditional practitioners and creates pathways for their integration into the public health system. The Ministry of Health supports intercultural health through dedicated units, training programmes and community-led
