Guyana\u2019s Traditional Medicine systems reflect a convergence of Indigenous Amerindian, <\/span>Afro-Guyanese<\/span> and East Indian healing traditions. Indigenous communities, including the Arawak, Wapishana and Macushi, continue to rely on forest-based medicine, herbal treatments and spiritual guidance. Communities of African and Indian descent also practise herbalism, ritual cleansing and religiously informed healing.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Ministry of Health supports Indigenous health through community health worker programmes and partnerships with Indigenous councils. While no national Traditional Medicine policy is currently in place, there is increasing recognition of the role of traditional knowledge in environmental health, chronic disease management and cultural
