Ecuador recognizes Traditional Medicine as part of its official health system under the Constitution of 2008 and the Modelo de Atenci\u00f3n Integral de Salud. Indigenous health systems \u2013 practised by Kichwa, Shuar, Achuar and other communities \u2013 include herbalism, spiritual cleansing, energy balancing and ritual healing (<\/span>limpias<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>ayahuasca<\/span><\/i> ceremonies). African Ecuadorian and coastal communities also support culturally embedded healing traditions.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Ministry of Public Health supports intercultural health through a national programme on Traditional and Ancestral Medicine. Recognized practitioners can take part in care coordination at intercultural health units and in Indigenous territories, with legal protections for knowledge and
