Belize\u2019s Traditional, Complementary and Integrative Medicine landscape is highly diverse, shaped by the practices of Maya, Garifuna, East Indian, Mestizo and Creole communities. Traditional healers and bush doctors use medicinal plants, ritual ceremonies, bone-setting and spiritual healing to address both physical and mental health conditions. Maya midwifery and plant-based medicine remain central in rural and forested areas.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Ministry of Health and Wellness supports integration through the Traditional Healers Council and partnerships with cultural and academic institutions. The Itzaj Maya Institute and other organizations have worked to document and safeguard traditional knowledge. Intercultural health is increasingly discussed in the context of biodiversity conservation and Indigenous
