The United Republic of Tanzania has a long-standing and well-organized tradition of Indigenous healing practices across its over 120 ethnic groups, including Chaga, Sukuma, Maasai and Zaramo. Traditional practitioners, known as\u00a0<\/span>waganga<\/span><\/i>, offer herbal treatments, spiritual cleansing and diagnostic rituals. These systems are closely linked to local cosmologies, plant knowledge and social well-being, particularly in rural and underserved areas.<\/span><\/p>\n

The United Republic of Tanzania was among the first African countries to establish a comprehensive\u00a0National Traditional Medicine Policy (adopted in 1992 and revised in 2002). The Ministry of Health has created regulatory bodies for practitioner registration, quality control and research. Public\u2013private collaborations and integration pilots in hospitals and community health centres are
