Zulu, Xhosa, Sotho, Tswana and other cultural traditions form the foundation of diverse practices, including herbalism, divination, bone-setting and ancestral consultation. Practitioners such as\u00a0<\/span>sangomas<\/span><\/i>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>inyangas<\/span><\/i>\u00a0remain vital across the country\u2019s urban and rural communities.<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0National Department of Health\u00a0has established national policy, practitioner registration and education systems under the\u00a0Traditional Health Practitioners Act (2007). South Africa has a dedicated directorate for Traditional Medicine and a growing infrastructure for research, training and integration into public health, including collaboration with universities and regulatory
