Senegal has a long-standing tradition of plural medical systems, including Indigenous healing practices, Islamic spiritual medicine and home-based care. Practitioners such as\u00a0<\/span>gu\u00e9risseurs traditionnels<\/span><\/i>,\u00a0<\/span>marabouts<\/span><\/i> and herbalists provide care that combines plant-based treatments, Koranic healing and community-centred approaches. Healing is an essential part of cultural life across Wolof, Serer, Fula and Diola communities.<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0Ministry of Health and Social Action\u00a0has formally recognized Traditional Medicine and implemented a\u00a0national policy for its integration. There is a legal framework for practitioner registration, and national networks of traditional healers have been involved in joint health education and service delivery, particularly in rural
