Traditional Medicine in the Niger remains vital to health care access, particularly in rural and nomadic communities such as Tuareg, Hausa, Zarma and Kanuri. Healers use herbal medicine, Islamic spiritual practices, massage and symbolic healing to address a wide range of health needs. Oral knowledge transmission and healer\u2013patient trust remain strong pillars of care.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Ministry of Public Health has expressed continued interest in formalizing Traditional Medicine through policy dialogue and collaboration with practitioner associations. While national regulation is still evolving, traditional healers are often consulted for maternal care, childhood illnesses and mental health concerns and are involved in health education
