Mauritania\u2019s Traditional Medicine systems reflect a convergence of Arab, Amazigh (Berber) and West African healing traditions. Practitioners known as\u00a0<\/span>marabouts<\/span><\/i>, herbalists and community healers use Qur\u2019anic healing, spiritual cleansing, massage and plant-based remedies to treat both physical and spiritual ailments. These practices remain important across the country, particularly in semi-nomadic and rural communities.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Ministry of Health has initiated efforts to acknowledge Traditional Medicine through the development of strategic health documents and regional consultations. While there is not yet a national policy for integration, traditional health practitioners are increasingly engaged in local public health campaigns, especially in the areas of reproductive health and mental
