Traditional Medicine in Liberia remains a significant component of community health care, particularly among Kpelle, Bassa, Kru and Gola populations. Healing traditions integrate spiritual consultations, herbal therapies, midwifery and culturally framed responses to conflict-related trauma. Knowledge is often held by\u00a0<\/span>zoes<\/span><\/i>\u00a0(traditional leaders) and female healers who perform key roles in rites of passage and disease management.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Liberian Ministry of Health recognizes Traditional Medicine in its national health plans and has worked with the Traditional Healers Union and civil society to promote training, safety and documentation.
