Lesotho\u2019s Traditional Medicine is deeply rooted in the cultural practices of the Basotho people. Traditional healers \u2013 <\/span>ngaka<\/span><\/i>\u00a0or\u00a0<\/span>sangoma<\/span><\/i> \u2013 provide care that addresses both physical and spiritual conditions through the use of medicinal plants, bone throwing (divination) and ritual cleansing. These practitioners continue to be vital care providers in both rural areas and informal settlements.<\/span><\/p>\n

The government, through the Ministry of Health, has engaged with traditional healer associations and stakeholders to promote safe practices, public health dialogue and respectful coexistence with biomedical services. While a comprehensive national policy is still in progress, traditional practitioners are involved in key areas such as HIV support, mental health and maternal
