Algeria has a rich tapestry of Traditional, Complementary and Indigenous Medicine systems rooted in\u00a0Amazigh (Berber), <\/span>Arabic\u2013Islamic<\/span> and sub-Saharan healing traditions. Herbal medicine, spiritual care, prophetic healing (<\/span>Tibb an-Nabawi<\/span><\/i>) and manual therapies are widely practised across rural and urban communities. The Sahara region, with its nomadic populations, also maintains unique medicinal knowledge linked to desert plants and oral storytelling.<\/span><\/p>\n

Algeria has taken important steps to recognize and regulate of Traditional, Complementary and Indigenous Medicine through its national health strategy. Herbalists and traditional healers (<\/span>tabibs<\/span><\/i>) are present in many communities, though formal integration into biomedical services remains limited. Islamic medicine and ethnobotanical practices are commonly incorporated into everyday care, particularly for digestive, respiratory and maternal health conditions. The Ministry of Health, Population and Hospital Reform has expressed interest in further developing frameworks to support Traditional, Complementary and Indigenous Medicine regulation and
