Chad\u2019s Traditional Medicine systems reflect a rich mosaic of Indigenous Saharan, Sahelian and sub-Saharan knowledge traditions. Healers, herbalists and spiritual mediators known locally as\u00a0<\/span>marabouts<\/span><\/i>\u00a0or\u00a0<\/span>gu\u00e9risseurs<\/span><\/i>\u00a0use medicinal plants, amulets, massage and spiritual diagnostics to care for physical and spiritual ailments. These practices remain central to health-seeking behaviour across the country, particularly in nomadic and remote communities.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Chadian Ministry of Public Health has taken steps towards the formal recognition of Traditional Medicine through the development of national guidelines and collaboration with local healers. Although full integration into public health structures is in progress, traditional practitioners are often informally involved in maternal care, mental health and culturally adapted responses to
