About Us

TMGL (v. 1.0)

The WHO Traditional Medicine Global Library (TMGL) is a collaborative digital library that provides comprehensive access to traditional medicine information for researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and the public.

The currently version (v. 1.0, launch date 19 Dez 2025) is continuously evolving to better meet the needs of our global community. The digital library is built on the belief that traditional medicine plays a critical role in global health and well-being, contributing to holistic and culturally relevant healthcare systems. Through innovative digital tools, TMGL aims to foster collaborative knowledge exchange, facilitate evidence-based decision-making, and bridge the gap between traditional medicine and the conventional biomedical approach to health and well-being.

Our platform operates an extensive range of web portals (i.e. a global portal, six regional portals, 194 country pages and thematic instances), databases and repositories totaling over 1.6 million documents, and digital tools, including a collection of  evidence gap maps, TCIM Databases and Repositories catalog, and the TMGL GPT (The Integrative Public Health Model), a generative artificial intelligence tool specialized by BIREME/PAHO for TMGL.

Whether you are exploring traditional medicine for personal interest, research, or policy development, TMGL serves as a gateway to understanding the intersection of health, culture, and community. We invite you to join us on this journey toward a more integrated and holistic approach to global health.
